5 robbery suspects killed in shootout with cops in Selangor

State police chief Hussein Omar Khan says an exchange of gunfire took place after the suspects' car crashed into the rear of a patrol car.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Five armed robbery suspects were killed in a shootout with the police at Putra Heights, Selangor, last night.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the incident,  believed to have occurred at about 11.30pm, Bernama reported.

“We will hold a press conference,” he said.

It was learnt that a police team spotted a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner and ordered the driver to stop for inspection.

The suspects ignored the instructions, accelerated and fired shots at the police before crashing into the rear of the patrol vehicle, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
