Dr Mahathir still at IJN, hopes to recover soon

The former prime minister was admitted to the National Heart Institute for an infection on Jan 26.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is still receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur for an infection he picked up in January.

“My health is improving thanks to the prayers and diligent efforts of the doctors, nurses and staff at IJN,” Mahathir, 98, posted on X today.

“I hope to recover soon and be allowed to return home.”

Mahathir, who was admitted on Jan 26, expressed his gratitude to those who prayed for the health and well-being of himself and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

“We are grateful to have this opportunity to meet and engage in worship during this very special month for Muslims,” he said.
