PETALING JAYA:
Johor police are investigating the alleged abuse of a dog, after a widely shared video showed the dog being dragged and caned at a house in Johor Jaya.

Seri Alam police chief Sohaimi Ishak said police have recorded the statement of the man seen in the video, Bernama reported. He said investigations began after a report was lodged by a woman on Thursday night.

Sohaimi said the case is being investigated for animal cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act.

The 29-second video clip posted on the “Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better” Facebook page shows a man grabbing a dog by the neck and dragging it towards the house. The man is also seen beating the dog.
