The party also appointed new chairmen for six states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Melaka, Penang and Kedah.
Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil said the appointments were made in accordance with the 2023 amendment to the party’s constitution, which grants the national leadership committee the discretion to appoint the state party chiefs.
“These appointments were made through a consultative process, which is a fundamental principle in Amanah’s administration, taking into account the views of the grassroots to ensure democratic processes are upheld,” he said in a statement.
Faiz has been appointed the chairman for Penang Amanah, former Kubang Rotan assemblyman Asmirul Anuar Aris for Kedah, party vice-president Adly Zahari (Kelantan), Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat (Melaka), Fadzli Ramly (Pahang) and Youth chief Hasbie Muda (Terengganu).
Faiz said the appointments aim to strengthen the party’s machinery for the upcoming general election and boost support for the unity government nationwide.
The party retained its chairmen for the other states, namely Aminolhuda Hassan (Johor), Ibrahim Abd Rahman (Negeri Sembilan), Asmuni Awi (Perak), Wan Kharizal Wan Khazim (Perlis), Lahirul Latigu (Sabah), Abang Abdul Halil Naili (Sarawak), and Izham Hashim (Selangor).
