PETALING JAYA:
Water supply recovery works in Penang were 84% complete as of today, the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) says.

It said around 111,000 of 120,000 affected water consumers have had their water supply restored ahead of schedule.

The remaining 16% of the work is set to be completed tomorrow at 3.30pm.

“PBAPP personnel continue to work in the final stages of supply recovery for the remaining 16% of affected consumers, including consumers at the end of the line and in high-ground neighbourhoods,” PBAPP said in a statement.

The water company also said that pipeline diversion works at the Sungai Perai site had been completed ahead of schedule.

The diversion works involved connecting two new pipelines to replace the leaking underwater pipeline.

On Sunday, PBAPP said the water cut initially slated to begin on Monday had been postponed to Tuesday night.

PBAPP said it agreed to postpone the water cut to 11.30pm following requests from consumers for more time to store water.
