The route between the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations has been closed since January last year following structural damage and track issues near Bandaraya station.
In a Facebook post, Rapid KL said passengers no longer needed to disembark at the Hang Tuah station to catch a connecting train to Masjid Jamek station.
“However, passengers still need to use the free shuttle bus service to continue their journey between the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations,” it said in a Facebook post.
It added that Rapid Rail would also be carrying out final trials of the LRT service between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations in preparation for the reopening of this route to the public.
“Depending on assessments and approvals from authorities, the full reopening of this route is expected at the end of February 2024,” said Rapid KL.
It also said that the train frequency during peak hours would be increased, resulting in a waiting time of 3.5 minutes within the central business district and 7 minutes outside the central business district.
On Jan 27 last year, FMT reported that the Ampang LRT line was facing delays in services due to a “kinked track alignment” near the Bandaraya station.
Rapid KL said preliminary observations showed that this was due to structural damage to a pillar in the area, believed to be a result of construction work nearby.
Rapid Rail then decided to close off the line between the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations as a safety measure.
