In a media statement, Brickfields police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said that on Jan 4, at around 4.45pm, a narcotics crime investigation department (CID) team detained two male officers aged 31 to 35 near the Brickfields police headquarters, as a follow-up to the previous arrests.
“A subsequent arrest saw a 30-year-old local man detained near Old Klang Road and a beverage containing ketum water seized.
“All suspects were remanded from Jan 4 to Jan 6, 2024, under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952. The four police officers will face disciplinary action. The total quantity of drugs seized could supply up to 180 drug users,” he said.
Amihizam said the Brickfields narcotics CID team is actively engaged in ongoing surveillance and investigative efforts to identify syndicate members and track the sources of their supply.
“Anyone with any information related to this drug seizure can contact 03-2297-9222, extension 553 to assist in the investigation.
“The community’s cooperation is highly valued in curbing and eliminating drug distribution activities,” he said.
