
This move has affected several areas in these towns, the company said in a statement posted on its Facebook page, Bernama reported.
“The areas which will not have electricity supply following the shutting down of the substations are Bonggol Kulim, Kubang Rambutan, Degong, Sekolah Kok Pauh, Padang Nyior, Tanjung Erat, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lubuk Setol, Air Teniat, Gual Tambun and the Lubok Setol police station,” it said.
TNB added that the electricity shutdown also involved areas in Pondok Gual Dalam, Lubuk Setol, Mountain Ore, Kampung Rahmat, SK Kampung Rahmat and Limau Purut.
It warned that if the flood worsens, risks or endangers the situation, the substations will remain shut down to ensure the safety of local users.
“Always be on the alert for heavy rain and risk of floods. Keep important documents in a safe place,” TNB was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Kelantan police said that three deaths have been recorded in the state due to the floods, since the Northeast Monsoon season began on Nov 21, Bernama reported.
Kelantan police chief Zaki Harun said in a statement that the cases involved a boy in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu and two girls in Pasir Mas.
He advised the public to be more concerned about the safety of children under their care and to always be aware of and comply with instructions and guidelines issued by the authorities.
“The public is also reminded, especially youths with motorcycles, not to go to flooded places to have fun as they may be courting danger,” he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the flood situation in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang has worsened further with more people evacuated to relief centres.
In Kelantan, the number of flood evacuees rose to 12,572 people as of 8am compared with 9,721 people last night.
Similarly, a total of 8,808 people in Terengganu have been relocated to relief centres this morning compared with 5,170 last night. In Pahang, some 700 people have been evacuated, an increase of 100 compared with the 600 last night.
