6-day ‘Siege for Palestine’ picket outside US embassy starts tonight

The Palestine Solidarity Secretariat says the demonstration in front of the embassy in Jalan Tun Razak is symbolic of the siege on Gaza.

The participants in the ‘Siege for Palestine’ picket are expected to camp out in tents and hold solidarity events every night.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A total of 48 NGOs comprising community, youth, and student organisations, as well as various political groups are expected to camp outside the United States embassy here for six days, starting from 10pm tonight.

The “Siege for Palestine” picket is an initiative by Malaysians concerned about the war in Gaza, where more than 20,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the past three months.

In a statement yesterday, the Palestine Solidarity Secretariat said the picket in front of the US embassy in Jalan Tun Razak is symbolic of the siege on Gaza but they are also demanding a halt to the killing of Palestinians and for an immediate ceasefire.

The demonstrators are expected to camp out in tents throughout the picket, hold solidarity events every night, and display Palestinian flags and symbols of the people’s struggle.

NGOs participating include the Malaysian Islamic Consultative Council, Viva Palestina Malaysia, Yayasan Al Quds Malaysia, Suara Rakyat Malaysia, and Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine.
