“Therefore, there must be an ‘intentional policy’ to set up a media company like Media Prima,” he said in his winding-up speech at the Amanah national convention here.
Khalid said that the proposed media company would play the role of “tackling negative propaganda”.
“Whether we are in government or not, (with a media company) we will be able to counter the media of ‘extremist’ groups or the Khawarij. This is to ensure that our messaging can be effectively conveyed,” he said.
Media Prima is an integrated media company with a wide repertoire of media-related businesses in television, print, radio, out-of-home advertising, content creation, commerce and digital media.
Media Prima operates four terrestrial TV stations, namely TV3, 8TV, ntv7, and TV9.
Media Prima also owns The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd, which publishes three newspapers and their respective online news portals – namely New Straits Times (NST), Berita Harian, and Harian Metro.
