PETALING JAYA:
Hardcore poverty has been eradicated in Negeri Sembilan with 3,530 households now escaping the lowest bracket of poverty, says menteri besar Aminuddin Harun.

According to Bernama, Aminuddin said Seremban was the last district to achieve “zero extreme poverty” with 922 heads of households falling under the “poor” category now.

The menteri besar credited this achievement to the various initiatives launched and said the state development action council’s main agenda was to eradicate poverty.

This was supported by the formation of a hardcore poverty eradication task force.

He also thanked elected representatives, government agencies and district-level poverty eradication focus group panels for coordinating the initiatives to eradicate hardcore poverty in Negeri Sembilan.

The menteri besar called for integrated efforts between the federal and state governments to be streamlined and improved in order to uplift the people’s wellbeing.

Previously, Aminuddin was reported to have said that 1,746 of the 3,530 households listed as being “hardcore poor” have successfully come out of that category as of October.
