Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the National Security Council (MKN) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will cooperate with companies that can curb cyber attacks.

Anwar spoke to reporters after visiting the Madani government’s one-year anniversary programme at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium grounds today, Bernama reported.

Yesterday, communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil said CyberSecurity Malaysia, the National Cyber Security Agency and the personal data protection department would conduct an investigation into the hacking of the Socso database site.

Commenting on the appointment of five new members for the special committee on corruption, Anwar described it as a continuation of the Madani government’s efforts to prioritise good governance by combating corruption.

“Governance is the main focus and the eradication of corruption must continue. There is indeed some initial success and one of the important measures is leadership.

“Over the past year, there has been no protest or disclosure about misconduct or corruption among government leaders,” he said.

The five appointed as committee members on Nov 28 were Dewan Negara president Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Paya Besar MP Shahar Abdullah, Batang Lupar MP Shafizan Kepli, Tawau MP Lo Su Fui and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman.

Their appointments will be effective from Oct 9 to Oct 8, 2026.

Earlier, Anwar spent about an hour visiting the booths of several ministries.
