PUTRAJAYA:
PKR Youth has lodged a police report on the death threat against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made by a netizen on TikTok.

Its deputy chief Kamil Munim said the report was made at the Putrajaya police headquarters at 1.43pm.

“Just now, some PKR Youth delegates went to the Putrajaya police headquarters to lodge a report on the TikTok video by ‘jaiadani89’ who offered RM5 million to whoever can kill the prime minister.

“It had many comments that did not only threaten the prime minister’s safety, but also touched on racial and religious sensitivities,” he said at a press conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

The video has since been deleted.

Kamil said police reports would be filed by PKR Youth members from other states immediately after the conclusion of today’s congress.

“If we don’t act swiftly to address this, we are worried it will lead to a situation where people become indifferent and casually make statements that can push us towards radical or extremist ideologies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain, when contacted by Bernama, said so far only one report had been received, adding that additional details on the case would be announced from time to time.

Razarudin said the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for misusing network facilities to transmit anything offensive.
