PETALING JAYA:
The home ministry spent nearly RM107 million on the National Identification Integrated Solutions (NIISe) project prior to its termination in August, according to home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“A total of RM106.93 million was used for the payment of successfully procured and completed user requirement provisions before the termination,” he said in a written reply to Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah).

Saifuddin said the government is now conducting an open tender pre-qualification procurement to identify capable contractors that can deliver value for money for the delayed project.

“The appointment of a new contractor is expected to take place after the pre-qualification open tender procurement process is completed,” he said.

NIISe is a programme launched by the home ministry to upgrade the IT infrastructure system of the immigration department. A four-year contract valued at RM1.16 billion was awarded to IITS from March 2021, to August 2025.

However, the ministry later decided to terminate the contract in August this year after citing the company’s inability to adhere to the established planning schedule.
