In a posting on X, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman said not a single opposition MP was in the Dewan Rakyat as of 10.30am.
“They’re in Putrajaya it seems. Those who had questions submitted (for the question-and-answer session) should have stayed. It’s a waste that their question had to be skipped,” the Pakatan Harapan MP said.
Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say that not a single Perikatan Nasional MP was in the lower house as of 10.52am.
“All their questions on the agenda were not asked. They also lost their chance to ask supplementary questions,” he said.
He said it was actually difficult for MPs to get their questions answered orally in the Dewan Rakyat, since there is only time for about 10 questions to be answered. The remainder are answered in written replies.
Earlier today, more than 1,000 people gathered outside the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya to “support and defend” the shariah courts, with many opposition figures present.
Among the MPs at the protest were opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad, and Bersatu vice-president MP Radzi Jidin.
