The department’s director, Hafid Rohani, said the tiger was healthy and would be taken to the national wildlife rescue centre in Sungkai, Perak.
He said the department launched the operation to catch the tiger after a man in Pos Pasik was mauled to death on Oct 5. Investigations were carried out the next day and a tiger trap set up at the location.
Hafid said an investigation was under way to determine whether the captured tiger was the same animal in the Oct 5 attack.
“The success of this operation has at least eased the concerns of the Orang Asli community in Pos Pasik. However, the villagers must be vigilant when going to the plantations and working in groups,” he said.
