Kelantan Umno information chief Noor Hariri Mohamed Noor said such a move should encompass the constituencies of the three Perikatan Nasional MPs who recently expressed their support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The three Bersatu MPs are Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang).
“Using existing mechanisms, the federal government can ensure that the development funds will reach the targeted groups in need,” Hariri said in a statement today.
He also cautioned Anwar not to be deceived by the “tactics” of the three MPs, saying they were only declaring their support to secure financial allocations for their constituencies.
“I hope this will not cloud Anwar’s judgment in consolidating his support.
“Anwar should take into account the sincerity and loyalty of these three MPs when assessing their support, bearing in mind the saying, ‘Already divorced but still living under the same roof’,” he said.
Hariri’s comments come after Azizi became the latest opposition MP to declare his support for Anwar and the unity government.
Like Suhaili and Iskandar Dzulkarnain, Azizi said he was supporting Anwar’s government as he was concerned over the welfare of his constituents.
Iskandar Dzulkarnain and Suhaili have been suspended by Bersatu for four and six years, respectively.
In both cases, the party’s disciplinary board had ruled that they breached Bersatu’s constitution.
