The 28-year-old man, who was intoxicated at that time, became agitated when the 35-year-old victim played loud music in the dormitory, Sinar Harian reported.
Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said the dormitory supervisor found the victim bleeding from a gash on his neck. It is believed that a fight had broken out before that.
The supervisor immediately confiscated a knife believed to have been used in the altercation from the suspect, he added.
“He then instructed for the victim to be taken to a private clinic in Tangga Batu for treatment before the latter was sent to Hospital Melaka,” he was quoted as saying.
The suspect was arrested at the dormitory at 6.50pm on Thursday and admitted to being involved in the altercation.
