Ex-AG Idrus appointed as AmanahRaya chairman

The former attorney-general’s appointment to the GLC owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated comes into effect today.

PETALING JAYA:
Former attorney-general Idrus Harun has been appointed as the chairman of Amanah Raya Berhad, a government-linked company owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc).

In a statement, AmanahRaya announced that Idrus’s appointment comes into effect today.

Idrus, a former solicitor-general, was a Federal Court judge before being made the attorney-general in 2020.

Having served as attorney-general under three prime ministers, his contract ended last month.

“In his over 42 years of experience, he served as a deputy public prosecutor in several departments such as the customs department and the prosecution division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” the company said.

“He had also served as Terengganu’s state legal adviser, the Election Commission and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s senior federal counsel, as well as a parliamentary draftsman.

“With his wealth of experience and judicial excellence, AmanahRaya is confident that Idrus will continue to propel AmanahRaya to greater heights.”
