PETALING JAYA:
A military officer will be charged with murder tomorrow after he was involved in a fatal crash on the Maju Expressway (MEX) on April 23 while allegedly drunk, says Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar.

Dusuki did not rule out additional charges as two other people were injured in the early morning incident on which killed a 22-year-old passenger in an e-hailing vehicle.

“There may be several charges under different provisions,” he said, according to Harian Metro.

Separately, Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Zamzuri Isa said the Attorney-General’s Chambers had agreed that the suspect will face two drink driving charges.

In a statement, Zamzuri said the charges will be framed under Section 44(1A)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injury.

The crash resulted in injuries to both the driver and a passenger of the e-hailing vehicle.

The murder charge will be filed in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court at 9.30am, followed by the two drink driving charges in the Kuala Lumpur traffic court at 10.30am.

Earlier reports had said a car entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with an e-hailing car carrying a Bangladeshi couple who were in Malaysia for a holiday.

The man who died is believed to have been a gaming content creator.
