Judge Faiz Dziyauddin ordered Yasin to do so after prosecutors had successfully proven a prima facie case against him.

The singer of the hit song “Mimpi Laila” was charged with self-administering “11-nor-delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid”, a primary active component of cannabis, at a police station in Petaling Jaya, in March last year.

The charge was framed under Section 15(1) (9a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act. If convicted, he could be imprisoned up to two years and fined a maximum of RM5,000.

Yasin was also charged with possessing 193.7gm of cannabis and for cultivating 17 cannabis plants at his home in Kota Damansara.

If convicted under Section 6 of the same Act, Yasin could be jailed for life and receive six strokes of the rotan.

Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin and Ahmad Zuhaini Amin appeared for the prosecution, while Yasin was represented by Ariff Azam Hussein.

Last year, the nasyid singer was granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) on a cannabis trafficking charge.
