They will be called in for questioning at the Dang Wangi police station in relation to the march organised by PN Youth.

The police have opened investigation papers on the rally that took place in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
PETALING JAYA:
The police have summoned 20 individuals involved in the “Selamatkan Malaysia” rally organised by Perikatan Nasional Youth to provide their statements tomorrow.

Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, a member of the rally’s organising committee, told FMT that he and 19 others have been called in for questioning at the Dang Wangi police station at 10am.

He said the police had summoned those who gave speeches during the rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Earlier, Harian Metro quoted city police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid as saying that investigation papers had been opened into the rally under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

“We have opened investigation papers and will call any individual who is able to assist us in our investigation.

“They will be called soon to have their statements recorded,” he said.

Yesterday, hundreds of protesters gathered at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and marched to the Sogo shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur.

The rally ended with a police report filed by the organising committee at the Dang Wangi police station against the granting of a discharge for deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his corruption case.

The others who attended the rally included Badrul Hisham Shaharin (better known as Chegu Bard), Bersatu information chief Razali Idris, Pejuang information chief Rafique Rashid Ali, Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin and PAS Youth information chief Nazir Helmi.

Razali told FMT he had yet to receive any instruction from the police to provide his statement.

“I was present (at the rally) but did not give any speech. But I have no problem (providing a statement) if called up,” he said.

Allaudeen had told reporters earlier the rally organisers did not adhere to the requirements under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

Meanwhile, Afif, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), said that he would be giving his statement to the police at noon tomorrow.
