Johan had been appointed to the post in December 2018 but his appointment was not confirmed upon the expiry of his six-month probation period on May 31.
IDS had announced Johan’s departure as CEO on June 14. However, Johan voiced surprise over the announcement, which was made through a press statement.
He brought a court action against IDS in 2020.
The industrial court eventually ruled that Johan was dismissed by IDS without just cause or excuse.
It also ordered IDS to pay Johan a total of RM163,860, including back wages and compensation.
In a statement today, Johan said his wrongful dismissal had a detrimental impact on his reputation and family’s name because of unjust accusations of mismanagement and impropriety levelled against him.
“Since a reinstatement would be difficult in these circumstances, the court has awarded the sum and IDS has settled (the amount),” he said.
