Rayer’s appointment took effect on Aug 30 and expires on July 31, 2024, according to Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Rayer has been serving in PHEB since 2008 as commissioner and deputy chairman.
“It is hoped that Yang Berhormat (Rayer) will improve the performance of the board in total,” Chow said in his congratulatory message to the MP.
Rayer is expected to announce the new lineup of PHEB commissioners soon.
PHEB is a statutory body established under the Hindu Endowments Act in 1906, which administers the endowments placed under it such as land, buildings, houses, burial grounds, temples, and funds allocated for the benefit of the Hindu community in Penang.
Rayer takes over the role previously held by former three-term Perai assemblyman and deputy chief minister P Ramasamy.
