Former Jasin MP Said Yusof dies

The 64-year-old Umno man won the Jasin parliamentary seat in 2004 when he defeated his PAS rival with a 21,334-vote majority.

Umno’s former Jasin MP Said Yusof died last night at the age of 64.

In a Facebook post, Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh confirmed Said’s death and conveyed his condolences to the former MP’s loved ones.

Said was a former one-term MP, representing the Jasin constituency from 2004 to 2008.

He had won the parliamentary seat in the 2004 general election with a 21,334-vote majority, defeating PAS’s Jasme Tompang.

He had also served as the chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Historical and Patriotic Studies, now known as Institut Tun Perak.
