PETALING JAYA:
Umno is expected to get four seats in the Negeri Sembilan executive council, with Pakatan Harapan assemblymen getting the lion’s share of six.

A source said a final decision had been made following discussions on the formation of the state government.

Among PH component parties, DAP will get four exco posts followed by PKR with two.

“Amanah will get the state assembly speaker’s post,” the source told FMT.

Earlier today, FMT quoted Negeri Sembilan BN chief Jalaluddin Alias as saying Umno would be given less than five executive councillor positions.

The Pertang assemblyman said a collective decision had been reached after discussions on the matter between Barisan Nasional and PH, which are forming the state government after winning a two-thirds majority in the Aug 12 state elections.

The 10 executive councillors will be sworn in at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah, at 9am tomorrow before Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The Negeri Sembilan menteri besar’s office also said the first state exco meeting would be held at Wisma Negeri tomorrow, after the swearing-in ceremony.

In the recent state elections, PH won 17 seats in Negeri Sembilan, while BN won 14 and Perikatan Nasional five.

Umno, which entered the state elections without its BN partners MCA and MIC, secured all 14 seats it contested for the coalition.

PH components DAP, PKR and Amanah secured 11, five and one seat respectively.
