However, Kelantan deputy menteri besar Fadzli Hassan said they will incorporate an additional slogan into the theme to reflect the state government’s administrative policy.
“Therefore, the state-level National Day theme will be Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan, Membangun Bersama Islam,” Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying.
He said the celebration will take place on the eve of Merdeka Day, starting at 6.30pm. It will kick off with the “Kelantan Berselawat” programme at the Sultan Muhammad IV Heritage Stadium Square.
On Sunday, Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar told FMT the state government will also be using the federal government’s logo and theme.
The federal government announced in May that this year’s National Day theme would be “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” with the Malaysia Madani logo.
However, on Saturday, Perikatan Nasional Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari proposed an alternative theme for PN-controlled Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
He suggested the theme “Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera” and a logo resembling the hibiscus, the national flower.
The proposal drew criticism from the government and NGOs, which said it would only cause disunity and that it went against the principles of federalism.
