The Selangor Royal Office said Sultan Sharafuddin has given his consent for the swearing-in ceremonies of the menteri besar and state executive councillors (exco) to be held at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

In a statement, it said the menteri besar will be sworn in at 11am followed by the exco at 2pm.

Selangor is the last state to appoint its menteri besar following the Aug 12 state elections, where PH won 32 seats while its unity government ally Barisan Nasional captured two seats. Perikatan Nasional won the remaining 22 seats in the Selangor state assembly.

Sultan Sharafuddin has been away for medical treatment in London, UK.

Last month, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim said Amirudin Shari will remain the menteri besar if the coalition retains the state in the polls.

However, speculation has been rife that Amirudin, who successfully defended his Sungai Tua seat, would not be reappointed as the menteri besar for a second term.

Amirudin was first appointed Selangor menteri besar in 2018 after his predecessor Azmin Ali became a federal minister following PH’s victory in the 14th general election (GE14).

Earlier today, Anwar, in response to questions over the appointment of the next menteri besar, only said that the issue had been “settled”.
