He advised the victims’ next of kin not to wait at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang for their loved ones’ remains to be released, Bernama reported.

“The DNA matching with samples from 22 family members is still ongoing, and the process will take three to four hours per person,” he said at a press conference held at the hospital.

“There are approximately 200 pieces (of human remains). The process will take a long time, and the earliest we may be able to match the DNA may only be on Monday.

“The family members do not need to wait here. The police and hospital management will call to let you know when it is completed.”

He said that the Selangor Islamic religious department (Jais) will facilitate matters such as bathing the victims’ remains and holding prayers, adding that 10 hearses have already been prepared.

Razarudin said the police would also facilitate the necessary transport to ensure the victims’ remains are buried in their respective hometowns.

Yesterday, a Beechcraft 390 crashed near Bandar Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor, killing 10 people, including Pahang local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman Johari Harun.

The crash claimed the lives of six passengers and two crew on board the business jet, plus a motorist and a motorcyclist on the Guthrie Highway.

The ill-fated plane was on its way from Langkawi International Airport to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang and had been cleared to land at 2.48pm. It was believed to have crashed two minutes later.
