SEREMBAN:
Muda’s proposed candidate for Repah in the Negeri Sembilan state election has decided not to stand for personal reasons, the party said.

Iswan Ishak’s withdrawal from the polls now leaves the party with only one candidate who will contest in the state.

“Muda respects his decision and wishes him well for the future,” Negeri Sembilan Muda chief Tarmizi Anuwar told FMT today, adding that the party is not going to replace Iswan.

Previously, Muda announced that the party will contest 20 seats across Selangor, Penang, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan.

So far, only Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) have announced candidates for Repah, which will see incumbent S Veerapan from DAP face Yong Li Yi from Gerakan.

Ahmad Qusyairi Abdull Rahim is now Muda’s sole candidate in Negeri Sembilan. He is expected to take on incumbent Ng Chin Tsai (PH-DAP) and Chua Eng Pu (PN-Gerakan) for the urban seat of Temiang.

Muda is a unity government-aligned party but decided to campaign alone in the state polls, citing differences over recent policy decisions.
