Nga said the initiative is aimed at helping unlicensed traders to operate their businesses in a “safe and comfortable” manner while uplifting the image of roadside stalls.
He also said the programme will prioritise applicants from the B40 group, with successful applicants given a six-month rent waiver for the solar-powered stalls.
“I was informed that there are around 100 stalls run by unlicensed traders in Sepang. I hope that after the launching of MyKiosk, they will be relocated to strategic locations with better safety,” he said when launching MyKiosk at Taman Putra Perdana here today.
Nga said his ministry has allocated RM49.14 million to 113 local authorities across the country to build 3,178 MyKiosk stalls as part of Budget 2023.
“We had informed the local authorities to submit their proposals earlier this year and they have to finish building the stalls four months after approval,” he said.
Apart from the six-month rent exemption, the benefits for stall operators include a maximum rental rate of RM300 monthly. The rent will be used for the stalls’ maintenance, Nga said.
He warned that the operators’ contracts will be cancelled if they were found to have sublet their stall to others.
