Syed Saddiq said PKR Youth chief Adam Adli should clarify the matter instead of “shifting the goalpost” when he questioned Muda’s support for the coalition and the unity government.
“Instead of politicking, it’s better to focus on the people and bring about a new political landscape for the benefit of the people.
“The people want to see a new form of politics and this is what Muda wants to offer (by going solo in the state elections),” he said at a press conference here.
On Wednesday, Adam asked Muda to clarify if it was still backing the unity government following its decision to contest in the coming state polls on its own.
Adam said Muda’s decision to go solo implied that it had lost confidence in PH’s ability to govern the states led by the coalition.
However, Syed Saddiq said instead of questioning Muda’s support for the unity government, Adam should state PKR’s current stand on the promised reforms, the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal, as well as on the asset declaration by the Cabinet, especially since PKR had been vocal on these issues prior to GE15 last November.
Separately, Syed Saddiq said he believed that there are no obstacles for Malaysia to have a woman prime minister in the future.
He said as long as they are capable, women should not be prevented from taking on leadership positions just because of their gender.
“For Muda, if there is a woman who is better than me, she has the right to take over the position of president because Muda celebrates diversity,” he said.
