KUALA LUMPUR:
No time has passed for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim who felt “at ease” being back at the Umno general assembly.

Anwar was seen on stage with Umno leaders, singing along to the party’s anthem and waving its flag before Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi delivered his speech.

“Of course, I still remember the song. I’m at ease and familiar with this environment (the Umno general assembly),” he told reporters at the World Trade Centre here.

It was the first time in 25 years that Anwar had attended the assembly.

The last time Anwar attended the assembly was in June 1998, as the party’s deputy president. He was sacked from the party three months later.

Anwar said he attended the assembly today as he wished to use it as a platform to display unity in order to strengthen the government, which would in turn benefit the people.
