PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man after his daughter was hospitalised for allegedly consuming cannabis cookies he had made.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the suspect tested positive for THC, the primary active compound in cannabis, and has been remanded until June 3.

He is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug consumption.

Yusri said the police received a report from a medical assistant at the Lawin community clinic last night regarding an 11-year-old girl who experienced difficulty breathing, dizziness and nausea after consuming cookies made by her father.

“Our initial investigation indicates that the victim had consumed biscuits believed to have been made with cannabis,” he said in a statement.

He said the girl was initially taken to Gerik Hospital and later referred to Taiping Hospital for examination and additional treatment.
