“I have received pictures of the rubbish from the Sultan of Johor, and we will deal with this immediately. Action will be taken in the next two days,” said Nga after attending his ministry’s awards ceremony here today.
Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar expressed his disappointment with the lack of cleanliness at low-cost flats in the state.
He said the rubbish that was disposed of indiscriminately made the area a breeding ground for rodents, pests and insects.
“I have personally seen that many low-cost flats in Johor are in very bad condition. It is almost as if my people are living in chicken coops,” he said in a Facebook post.
He also called for the federal government to intervene by providing assistance to repair the low-cost flats.
On the waste management concessionaire which Sultan Ibrahim took to task for its unsatisfactory service, Nga said the company has been asked to provide an explanation.
“The company will provide its feedback and take immediate action,” said Nga.
“I ask for the cooperation of all agencies in this matter as not all of these issues fall under the company’s job scope and contract.”
