
He also thanked the King for consenting to extend his contract until May 11, 2024, on the prime minister’s advice.
Azam said he will meet transport minister Loke Siew Fook soon over the numerous misconduct reports that Azam claimed had been ignored by the road transport department (JPJ).
He said he will explain these cases in detail to Loke when they meet, adding that Loke was the only minister who wanted to meet him over the reports.
“I am ready to meet the minister to explain the issues,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri event at the deputy prime minister’s official residence here today.
On Tuesday, Azam reportedly said MACC was still waiting for government agencies to follow up on over 500 reports of misconduct, some of which he claimed were submitted 12 years ago.
New Straits Times reported that most of these reports involved the police, followed by JPJ.
In response, Loke said he will meet the MACC chief so he can understand the details of each case. He reiterated that there will be no compromise with any wrongdoing under the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the police will look into Azam’s claim that no action has been taken on reports of misconduct in the force.
