PETALING JAYA:
Police arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of posting racial and seditious content on social media yesterday.

The suspect was nabbed in Bagan Serai, Perak, federal police secretary Noorsiah Saaduddin said in a statement.

Police also confiscated his smartphone and SIM card.

“The suspect has been remanded for three days, starting today.”

Noorsiah said the case is being investigated by Bukit Aman’s classified criminal investigation unit (D5) for inciting hatred towards the royalty and government, as well as for inciting racial sentiments.

The suspect is also being probed for improper use of network facilities.

This is the second arrest made in the past few days over seditious content online.

Police had arrested a 61-year-old man in Kampung Hulu, Melaka, on Saturday for making seditious and provocative Facebook posts.
