PETALING JAYA:
A PAS MP’s claim that she took water from a fire hydrant to distribute to residents in her constituency in Kelantan has drawn flak from the local government development ministry.

Local government development minister Nga Kor Ming said legal action will be taken against Rantau Panjang MP Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff as it was a very irresponsible act, Bernama reported.

He added that his ministry will conduct a thorough investigation into her claim that was reported by the PAS organ Harakah Daily recently.

“The water source from the fire hydrant is used to extinguish fires and not for daily consumption.

“If everyone takes the water from the fire hydrant, then what will happen if there is a fire? This should not have occurred,” he told reporters after officiating the “Larian Bersama Bomba” programme organised by the fire and rescue department in Ipoh last night.

Siti Zailah, who is the former women, family and community development deputy minister, was reported to have said that she used a pump to draw water from a fire hydrant to fill up large tanks before sending it to residents in several areas in her parliamentary constituency who were facing disruption to their water supply.
