
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan menteri besar Ahmad Yakob has called on people in the state to hold “solat hajat” (prayer of need) in their homes and to pray for the nation amid the current spell of hot weather.
He said the hot weather, which is expected to continue until August, has caused a prolonged drought and destroyed agricultural crops.
He also asked imams to perform “solat hajat” at mosques and suraus throughout the state to seek rainfall for the well-being of the entire population..
“I call on the people of Kelantan to pray to God as well as to take the opportunity to hold ‘solat hajat’ in their respective homes.
“Hopefully, with these efforts, God will shower His mercy on all of us by granting rainfall and to refresh the earth,” he said in a statement.
