PETALING JAYA:
Seat negotiations between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming state polls are 80% complete, says Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The Umno secretary-general said the remaining 20% will be finalised soon, NST reported.

“We hope that PH or BN will win as many seats as possible in these six states,” he was quoted as saying.

“The BN liaison chiefs and PH chairmans in the six states were given one month to discuss the seat distribution.”

Asyraf added that the unity government’s secretariat is expected to hold a meeting in the first week after the Hari Raya holidays.

Previously, PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was reported to have said that PH and BN will defend the seats they won in the 14th general election (GE14), in the state polls that is due to be held within the next four months.

Saifuddin said the consensus was reached when the two coalitions met recently.

Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to dissolve their state assemblies in June to pave the way for the polls.
