Muhamad Mat Yakim said the headline published by the portal was aimed at pitting Sanusi against the Kedah ruler, Utusan Malaysia reported.
He said Sanusi had never once claimed that the Kedah sultan was involved in a move to have him removed from the National Finance Council (NFC).
“It is the sultan’s prerogative to appoint anyone to the council. Hence, the headline of the story is baseless,” he was quoted as saying, adding that it was also provocative, irresponsible and seditious.
The report was lodged at the Kota Setar police station in Kedah.
On Sunday, Sanusi alleged that there was a concerted effort to replace him with state secretary Norizan Khazali in the NFC.
However, he admitted he had no proof to back his claim as the move to oust him had yet to materialise.
Muhamad also said Sanusi had a good relationship with the Kedah sultan.
