Serdang police chief AA Anbalagan said the children were left under the care of the babysitter as their single mother had to work in Singapore since last month.
He said the children were found to have sustained bruises, believed to be from caning, and were sent to Klang Hospital for treatment on Tuesday.
Anbalagan said a member of an NGO had filed a police report in Klang after a TikTok video detailing their injuries went viral.
“The two children were discharged from the hospital yesterday. The Selangor social welfare department is monitoring the case, while we have released the babysitter on police bail,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for causing physical harm, which carries a RM20,000 fine or a maximum 10-year jail term upon conviction.
