PKR’s Syed Ibrahim made MDEC non-executive chairman

The Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation says the Ledang MP has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry.

Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh has been appointed the non-executive chairman of the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

According to Bernama, the PKR MP’s appointment took effect on April 1.

MDEC said Syed Ibrahim had extensive experience in the telecommunications sector having served in Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) from 1989 to 2014. His last position in TM was assistant general manager.

Syed Ibrahim is also the Johor PKR chief and is in the Anwar Ibrahim-led party’s central leadership council.

He takes over the post from Alwi Che Ahmad, the Kok Lanas assemblyman and Umno Supreme Council member.

Alwi was appointed to the post in December 2021 following the resignation of his predecessor, Rais Hussin, in October that year.
