The three MPs were not suspended.
Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Alice Lau told Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) to leave the House after he refused to retract a statement he made against natural resources, environment and climate change minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Awang had accused Nik Nazmi of lying and issuing a false statement on the size of Malay reserve land in Kedah.
While the minister had said the size of Malay reserve land in the state had decreased in 2022, the PAS man claimed he had evidence that showed otherwise.
“If the minister does not have the (accurate) information, don’t lie to this House. This minister has misled the House.
“I urge him to withdraw his statement and apologise for saying Kedah had seen the highest decrease in Malay reserve land,” said Awang.
This later led to Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) and RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) being kicked out of the Dewan for an hour.
Shahidan had refused to admit to calling Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) a thief amid the chaos in the House. Rayer was booted for repeatedly interrupting proceedings to urge Shahidan to withdraw the remark.
Awang, a former deputy human resources minister, had been ordered to leave the Dewan Rakyat on March 8 for repeatedly disrupting economy minister Rafizi Ramli’s winding-up speech on Budget 2023.
He was also suspended from the House for two days.
On March 29, Nik Nazmi told the Dewan Rakyat there was a decrease in the size of Malay reserve land in Kedah, Perak and Kuala Lumpur last year.
He said Malay reserve land in Kedah had decreased from 721,888.93ha in 2021 to 716,537.28ha.
However, Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor reportedly denied there was a decrease, saying data from Jan 19 showed that the state’s Malay reserve land had increased to 721,905.613ha.
You’re still suspended, Besut MP told
Meanwhile, Che Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) was ordered to leave the Dewan Rakyat after he attended today’s proceedings thinking he had finished serving his three-day suspension.
The PAS man was booted from the House and suspended for three days last Wednesday after refusing to heed deputy speaker Ramli Nor’s orders to sit down.
Zulkifly said he thought he could join today’s proceedings as the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders did not specify whether suspensions only involved days of proceedings.
Ramli told him his suspension was for three days of proceedings. This means that Zulkifly can join the proceedings tomorrow, the last day of sitting for this meeting.
