No need for threats, Wan Fayhsal tells Guan Eng

The Bersatu Youth chief hits back at the former finance minister, in a row over the tax status of Albukhary Foundation.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal and Lim Guan Eng, a former finance minister, have traded blows over the tax status of Albukhary Foundation.
PETALING JAYA:
Saying there was no need for threats, Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has hit back at former finance minister Lim Guan Eng who had accused him of lodging a false police report.

Wan Fayhsal said he was certain in his knowledge after lodging the complaint yesterday against Lim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over the tax-exempt status of Albukhary Foundation.

“The police report lodged by Bersatu Youth is clear. It’s easy to read and not complicated or confusing unlike the lies propagated by DAP and the prime minister,” Wan Fayhsal said in a Facebook posting today.

Lim, who is DAP chairman, had accused Wan Fayhsal earlier today of committing a criminal offence by lodging a “false police report”. He had also challenged Wan Fayhsal and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to furnish proof that he had cancelled the foundation’s tax-exempt status while he was the finance minister.

Wan Fayhsal said he was ready to defend Muhyiddin, who first made the claim that Lim had cancelled Albukhary Foundation’s tax-exempt status.

Lim subsequently lodged a police report against Muhyiddin over the matter.

Wan Fayhsal said the public could now see that the leaders of parties in the government were willing to lodge police reports against the opposition.

“Not long ago, DAP often criticised Umno for using its power in government to oppress opposition parties,” he said. “Now DAP is using its position in government to do the same.”

Labelling DAP and Umno as “strange bedfellows”, Wan Fayhsal said the two parties will be punished in the six state elections set to be held after June.

“Wait and see. Don’t play dirty,” he said.
