
Asyraf, who did not contest for a top post in the recent party elections, will be taking over from Ahmad Maslan who sits on the Supreme Council.
Meanwhile, Azalina Othman Said has been appointed information chief.
She takes over from Isham Jalil who is a Supreme Council member.
Meanwhile, former Barisan Nasional secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has been retained as the party’s treasurer-general.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also announced that Mohamad Hasan has been retained as the election director.
He also said vice-presidents Khaled Nordin, Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Johari Ghani will head three advisory councils in the party.
Khaled will chair the constitutional and legal advisory council, while Johari oversees the economic, financial and investment advisory council. Wan Rosdy, meanwhile, will take charge of the training and membership advisory council.
