In a video uploaded on social media, the lawyer-activist was visibly annoyed that she had to register twice because there was a lack of quorum.
Siti said the AGM only needed the attendance of 500 lawyers to meet the requirement. Kuala Lumpur alone, she added, had some 9,000 lawyers.
“I want to say to all these lazy lawyers who did not even bother to come to the AGM held once a year: where are you all?”
Siti went on to say that these lawyers who did not show up had no right to complain about the Bar.
Meanwhile, a lawyer, who was at the AGM, told FMT that the meeting was initially scheduled to begin at 10am.
However, because of the lack of quorum — after only 276 lawyers turned up — it was delayed until 12.15pm.
“However, under Section 64(5) of the Legal Profession Act, we were allowed to hold the AGM despite having fewer than 500 attendees,” the lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
