In a statement, Anwar said the initiative was meant to reduce the financial burden faced by the homeowners from the M40 group in Putrajaya.
“This assessment tax reduction is given to residential properties completed after 2017.
“It involves nearly 2,700 strata properties and terrace residential units and will be implemented from July 1 until re-evaluation by the Putrajaya Corporation,” he said.
Anwar also said he had received numerous complaints from the property owners in Putrajaya about the assessment fees being “quite high” compared to surrounding areas.
This is the second phase of the assessment fee reduction initiative by the government for residential properties in Putrajaya.
Last December, the government decided to give a 30% reduction in assessment fees for residential properties in Putrajaya valued under RM300,000.
The reduction was given to residential properties that had been completed since 2017, involving nearly 8,500 homes.
Property assessment fees are collected by local councils. The funds are then used to develop and maintain local infrastructure and services.
Putrajaya Corporation is the local authority that manages the administrative capital and it is under the purview of the federal territories department.
