
This was revealed by Selangor MACC director Alias Salim who said out of 314 arrests made in the past five years, 170 involved civil servants.
He added that they were arrested over investigations into cases of corruption, embezzlement, and abuse of power.
The remaining 144 people arrested include 84 private sector workers, five politicians, and five government-linked company (GLC) staff.
“Throughout the period, the highest number of arrests was recorded in 2022 with 72, followed by 2018 (66) and 2021 (63).
“The arrests have led to 269 investigation papers and 135 charges in court,” Alias said, according to Bernama.
He said 2020 saw the highest number of investigation papers being opened in the last five years with 64 probes initiated in that year, followed by 2019 (57) and 2022 (50).
Alias added that Selangor MACC had made seizures worth RM366,845 during the same period and confiscated RM1,768,554.89 in cash from those arrested.
