BN-PH seat sharing for state polls ready by end-March, says Fahmi

Fahmi Fadzil says the unity government secretariat will make an announcement on the seat negotiations next month.

Pakatan Harapan communications director Fahmi Fadzil said seat negotiations have been progressing smoothly.
PETALING JAYA:
The seat sharing arrangement between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming state elections will be announced by the end of March, says PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

The communications and digital minister said talks are progressing smoothly and the outcome will be brought to the unity government secretariat to be finalised prior to the announcement, Berita Harian reported.

“I expect the (outcome of the talks to be announced) soon, or by the end of March at the latest, since official negotiations have been going on for quite some time,” Fahmi was quoted as saying.

“Whatever it is, we wait for the official announcement from the unity government secretariat.”

Six states – Selangor, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan – will be holding their elections within the next five months.

Last week, it was reported that the menteris besar and chief minister of the six states will consider dissolving the state assemblies in the last two weeks of June to make way for the elections.

Fahmi also said that the secretariat will be the official platform that will provide information and make announcements on the seat allocations for PH, BN and other parties in the unity government.

This secretariat is led by Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
